Collaborative Website Creation
Build a professional portfolio website, and learn how to maintain it yourself.
About this Session
A portfolio website should make it easy for someone to understand your work, experience, and professional goals. It should also be something you know how to update after our work together is finished. During this collaborative website experience, you’ll work directly with a Groundplan mentor to organize and develop a professional online home for your technical-theatre work. Rather than handing the project away to a designer, you’ll participate in the process so the finished site reflects your voice, and so you understand how to maintain it. We’ll combine portfolio materials, personal branding, and hands-on website development to create the strong, yet easy to maintain, online presence for your career. THIS SERVICE IS A GOOD FIT IF: • You need a professional website for college interviews, internships, or career opportunities • Your work is scattered across folders, links, and social-media accounts • You have started a website but feel stuck on its structure or design • Your existing website feels generic, outdated, or difficult to navigate • You want guidance from someone who understands technical-theatre careers DURING THE COLLABORATION, WE MAY: • Establish the site’s goals/inspirations, pages, and navigation • Organize your résumé, about me, portfolio samples, and contact me pages • Build page structure and visual hierarchy • Develop consistent typography, color, imagery, and branding • Improve the way individual projects and processes are explained • Teach you how to make future updates independently This multi-meeting service will pair you with a Groundplan team member in the collaborative design and creation of a personalized website for a professional technician. Clients will submit materials in advance that include resume, portfolio, and inspiration sites that resonate with the vision for your future website. It starts with a 30 minute consultation, followed by two meetings*: one being a check-in on the design process and function with your designer, and the second being the handoff and instructional session for you to learn how to update and maintain your site as your career grows. *Client changes in direction that require re-builds (as defined by our team) may require an additional meeting which will be billed separately at a rate of $140 per additional (hour long) collaborative work session.
