About this Session

Your résumé should make your experience easy to understand...and give someone a reason to keep looking! In this focused working session, a Groundplan mentor will help you strengthen the content, structure, and presentation of your technical theatre résumé. We’ll look beyond formatting to determine whether the document accurately communicates your experience, responsibilities, skills, and desired professional direction. This session is appropriate for students and early-career technicians. You can arrive with a nearly finished résumé, an outdated version, or a collection of credits that still needs to be organized. THIS SESSION IS A GOOD FIT IF: • Your résumé feels crowded, generic, or outdated • You are unsure how to organize production credits and technical skills • Your job titles do not fully explain what you actually contributed • You need to adapt your résumé for college applications, interviews, internships, or employment • You want a professional review before sending your résumé to others DURING THE SESSION, WE MAY: • Review the relevance and clarity of your existing content • Strengthen descriptions of positions, responsibilities, and accomplishments • Organize production credits, employment, education, training, and skills • Identify missing information or unnecessary material • Improve hierarchy, readability, consistency, and visual presentation • Discuss how the résumé should coordinate with your portfolio and personal brand • Make live revisions during the session. YOU’LL LEAVE WITH: A stronger résumé that includes specific revisions, along with a clearer understanding of how to present your experience professionally moving forward. This is a collaborative review and editing session The amount of live formatting and design completed will depend on the starting condition of the résumé you provide. Multiple sessions may be needed for clients starting from scratch. Prerequisite: first time clients must submit current resume 5 days in advance, and some may be asked to prepare more materials before meeting with Groundplan team.
